It feels so good to get this weight off of my shoulders
Grappling with the thought that my creative days were over
Thinking that I couldn’t connect to it, because I’m older
But entertaining the masses couldn’t be a part of my closure
I felt the burden of appealing to the casual
Listener without my own enjoyment out of it being natural
That’s factual; easy to see how I burned out
Had to remember what it meant to have fun and how that turns out
My own amusement is amusing to those consuming
Instead of assuming in confusion and losing
My interest in what always had me piqued, and peaked
As soon as I noticed nothing got me geeked, that’s music!
So now we’re tuning into a man and his musings
Expressing himself surprisingly, when I’m unassuming
I’m no longer in the cut; I’m letting loose and it’s oozing
I don’t care if sounds gross, I’ve uncovered a few things
A new love for singing that they’ve always cried for
And more clever punchlines I’ve always died for
I can’t wait to see how I will reframe
My next album that’s meant to change the game
The industry standard isn’t what I will strive for
But making music to make my own heart thrive more
I’ll leave it up to you, if you want it to spread
Cause I’m still not wanting fame, just to create til I’m dead.
